It’s a simple moist and fluffy chocolate sponge frosted with a chocolate frosting.

This is the most Amazing & Delicious Chocolate Cake. It’s an easy, soft chocolate sponge covered in a Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting!



  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 200gr cream cheese
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 tsp vanilla extract
  • 6 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk


  1. Cake: In a bowl add your flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix your dry ingredients  using a whisk.
  2. Add in your eggs, buttermilk, warm water, oil and vanilla. Mix completely!
  3. Grease and line with parchment paper two 7-inch round tins. Divide the mixture equally among the tins.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes at 175°C (until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean).
  5. Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting: In a bowl mix your cream cheese and butter using a hand mixer until nice and creamy. (for about 2 minutes)
  6. Add in your cocoa powder, vanilla, powdered sugar and milk. Mix until you end up with a creamy and smooth mixture.
