This recipe can also be used to make gingerbread house!

You can use royal icing with the colour of your choice as well as Christmas sprinkles and edible glitters. You can also double this recipe and make your own Gingerbread house!

These cookies last for up to 2 weeks stored in an airtight container at room temperature!

I love these Gingerbread Cookies so much because they make such a great activity for family and friends during the Christmas season. They look very cute especially when decorated with some Royal icing to just pipe their outline and a few details.

Description

There is nothing better than freshly baked gingerbread cookies! They are easy, quick and so tasty! Make sure to give this recipe a try!

Ingredients

  • 60gr Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Golden Syrup
  • 1 tbsp Black Treacle
  • 1 tbsp Water
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp Ginger
  • 100gr Butter
  • 1/2 tsp Bicarbonate Soda
  • 230gr Flour (plain)
  • extra flour for dusting the surface

Instructions

  1. In a medium size sauce pan add your sugar, water, golden syrup, black treacle syrup, cinnamon and ginger. Mix gently using a spatula.
  2. Place over medium heat until the mixture is slightly boiling. Keep mixing every a few seconds to avoid the mixture from burning.
  3. Then remove from the heat and add your butter in and mix until fully melted.
  4. Add in your soda and flour and mix until a dough is formed. Let the dough cool down for 10 minutes.
  5. Place your dough over a lightly floured surface and start rolling it out.
  6. Now using the cookie cutters of your choice, cut your cookies. Place the cookies on a lined baking tray.
  7. Bake for about 15 minutes at 175°C. Let them cool down and enjoy!
